depending what script you use..
if you looking for best.. fast.. and free... also support ssl..
learn jekyll, host your web on github.. and make your static site become dynamic..
jekyll + github + cloudflare better thank wordpress + free php hosting

Hi,
Not quite free but have you looked into VPS?
ArubaCloud do fast VPS for 1 EUR month.
Install Linux/Webmin and you can manage multiple websites for free (after your 1 EUR month)
I use the basic VPS to host a static website to host images using NGINX.
