If you do a Logo and vector images then its better to use Adobe illustrator. But if you do image editing then its better to use Adobe Photoshop. This is my own opinion as graphic artist 
The purposes of creating graphics are different. First you have to know what you want. Raster graphic? Vector graphic?
Most of the people I know, use Photoshop or GIMP for raster graphics and photo manipulating, and Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator for the vector part such as logos and other scalable things.
I believe, the best graphic software is that one, which you are mastering with ease and which one offers you what you need.
I've seen a lot of speech here, but did anyone tried Krita?
It's a open-source based Photoshop clone, able to run on Linux, Mac and Windows and for free. I gave it a try and it's a helpful and handy platform. Give it a try.

Best graphi design soft. are Adobe photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Flash, Corel PaintShop, Photo Pro X3, Art Rage 3.5, Adobe Premiere, Wacom Tablets, Corel Paint etc. I'm using Adobe photoshop, Graphics Suite X5. Thanks for your post. Bye....
