which FREE file storage is best?

Hi,

Which FREE file storage is good for hosting paid content?

I'm interested in storage that...

- never expires
- doesn't impose limits of any kind (daily, weekly, etc. on... number of downloads / uploads / clicks, the size of the uploaded files, etc)
- anything else that's important to know for such type of content?

Let's assume that each day 10-20 people will be downloading the files I upload to this service. Well, in this case I will obviously need a service that will never restrict or inconvenience these people in any way, and which will never expire (ie delete) my files because of some idiotic 30-days "liveness" rule that I just saw in one of the services earlier when I researched these services...

So, if any of you had sold 100s or 1000s of downloadable files per month before and those files have been huge (let's say over 1GB each), which FREE service have you used that's been extremely reliable?

And the reason I've mentioned FREE 4 times already (and in ALL caps too) is because if a FREE service is of quality I have no problem spending money on it later when my needs for space grow. But if that service has no remorse offering bad service to their free members they will also have no remorse screwing their paid customers either (I've seen this too many times to afford to ignore it again), so I prefer a service that's great even at free level...

So yeah, please let me know as I will need to host over 10 (possibly over 15) GB worth of content soon, and I can't upload it to my 20 GB hosting account as this would leave me no space for my websites :)

why not get a storage server or dedicated server (depends on your need) and use that? even in off-shore and DMCA cases this is best thing to do instead of using 3rd party file sharing websites.
 
Mediafire is ideal,
10 GB lifetime and won't expire as long as you log into your account at least once every 8 months,
You can use it with multiple accounts and would work without problems

what are you referring to when you say "multiple accounts"? I am not familiar with file storage, I've only used Dropbox like 10 years ago and only for a test file, but I've forgotten how these things work, and - after doing a bit of research 2 days ago - I noticed that almost all of them have different limits and different rules (number of devices you can access your account from, download and file size limits, expiry dates, etc)... That's why I'm asking questions that for you, guys, might sound stupid

So, what do you mean by "multiple accounts"? I only need 1 account (for now anyway), and if I want more storage (and if the price is good) I don't mind upgrading

Also, do they send reminders before the 8 months expire? Because - even though I will try to log in at least monthly - it is possible at some point that I forget about that, especially if I'll sign up with 5-10 of such websites, I can totally see myself getting lost in the different rules each one of them has :)

Hi,

Free options with these features are rare, especially for large files (10-15GB+). Most free plans have limits or expiration rules. You might want to try services like Google Drive, Mega, or pCloud—they have decent free tiers, but check their terms carefully.

If your content grows, consider paid plans from trusted providers to avoid issues.

the files are not large (the largest one that I currently have is 1.5 GB, and I think even that can be broken down into chunks), but the storage itself needs to be decent (at least 20-30 GB is what I consider decent at the moment)

yeah, I noticed... That's why I came here asking for suggestions, and the more I research these storage services the more I realize that I might actually go with a paid plan from the get-go...

I'm onto it (just going through the list shared by MrNewbie earlier, and there are a few interesting option there, I even contacted one of the services that looks promising, let's see what they reply with as I was a big accusational in my message because their FAQs don't explain the single most important feature of their service, so I kind of blamed them for it, so I wouldn't be surprised if they go like "hey, we don't own you shit, go F yourself" :p )

If you want your file to never expire, I am only aware of Mega.
You may use more than one Mega account to bypass the free limit.

Or maybe create a telegram channel ? The free limit is 2 gig per file, but file may be splitted.
 
Any free provider may limit the download speed or have a total bandwidth limit.
I used google drive in a similar situation some years back. Got the work done. If you need more than 15 gb storage, you can use 2 accounts.

normally I don't use google products anymore (except for YT, but I've reduced my activity on YT a lot in the last months), but given that this is PLR content they can scan it all they want and it still won't hurt me... so google drive is a good idea! :)

EDIT: wait, I think Google Drive doesn't have free plan anymore... at least I'm not seeing it, it's only 14-days trial and then it's 7 Euros a month for 30 GB space. Can you confirm that I'm seeing this correctly? Or do you have a link to a special offer that comes with 15 GB for free?

I can still see 15 gb storage. The storage is linked to your google account and is spread across all google products you use.
No special link, 15 gb storage is given by default to everyone.

You'll get 10 GB per account,
You can either upgrade later or simply create more accounts, so it would be 10 GB per account,

Idk about account deletion notices, but if you choose to upgrade it won't get deleted,
and you even get direct download links instead of the typical download page
 
gmail is best, you can create as many emails you want, with each of them you have 15 gb of storage. From the paid ones I think Mega is the cheapest, 5 bucks for 750 gigs a month. There is also 20 gb free plan.

I'm a cheapskate, so for me $5 a month is a lot of money for such a service, especially since I will never use that much storage. I found 2 services in the $12 per year price range for 100-500 GB storage which I find more in line with my needs :)

Google Drive does indeed look good though, it's one of my top 3 picks at the moment...

Anyway, I've crossed MF off my list yesterday because sharing links (which I assume will be needed in order to give buyers access to their content) is possible only with the paid plan, so I'm not interested in MF anymore... ok, let's say for now instead of anymore, as later I might change my mind. But thanks for explaining (and yeah, the direct download links are pretty dope, but since I can't use them with free account... what's the point?):

Get a FREE Linux VPS, install FREE Nextcloud, try the service for FREE and be happy with customers asking for FREE services.

If you're selling, it would be even better to use a VPS along with WPDM & their pro membership add-on,
Depending on the download rate, contabo or netcup small plans should do the work just fine,
You can find the required plugins nulled for free, the rest is up to setting up the website & plugin

that would be a problem as I'm trying to move away from Wordpress. I will look up contabo and netcup though, see what those are...

I don't trust nulled plugins anymore, I've read a few horror stories by those using them, right here on BHW, so I'm staying away from them :)
