Which FB traffic model to use ?

Seems like there are two ways to get traffic to your pages:
#1 setup account > get friends (bot) > make fan page > invite friends to join fan page
#2 setup account > make fan page > get fans by advertising
Not sure which one is best? read a lot, ready to take action, not asking for spoon feading just some general opinions.

#1 Has a long term effect as you can add friends forever, where as advertising to get fans is expensive (using facebook ads) If you mean spamming, that is cheaper but can sometimes take a long time; bots are quick, automated, can scrape ids of specific targeted fan pages etc

I've been using FW for a few months now and it works wonders. There's also a $50 BHW discount still available ($200 instead of $250 I believe).

Thanks, are FB advertising coupons still readily available or is that saturated now so that the coupons are no longer cost effective?
