i have found a .org domain that i want to register. i have heard godaddy and namecheap will usually try to rip you off when you find a good domain name. is there any registrars that wont do that? dont want to pay $300 for a domain that i can get for $10.

InternetBS has been great for me. No auto-renew crap, low prices, simple interface, and free Private Whois forever. Go with them.

I never had that problem with NameCheap, I have 67 domains with them and never had to pay that much, even with high traffic SEO optimized domains. Now Godaddy will still your domains after you buy them and move them to another registrar or tell you your sh*t out of luck and ask you to buy hosting :) They suck so bad they should be jailed...

If the domain is available, and you register right away, you'll be fine, regardless of the registrar as long as it's big and reputable.

Have never had a problem like that with namecheap and this is the first time I have ever heard that. Where are you getting your information?

I Use internetBs but have NEVER heard of that happening OP

I've had problems with godaddy, but never any issues namecheap. They also usually include a year of whoisguard and ssl.

If your not planning on transferring it you should keep it locked.

by the way, thank you for your recommendation, their interface is so user friendly. and so cheap! $8 with privacy included.
now if you could also recommend a host, that would be great. I dont plan on doing anything too blackhat (maybe some scrapebox commenting, thats all). so any hosts that are cheap and are always up?

are freekin crazy? no tin foil hat here. IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED to me. Wake up dude. Godaddy is a complete rip off. The other guy was right. those F-ers should be jailed. look up the term "front running'. They had all kinds of made up companies contacting me. They suck bad. Just see if they would shut you down in a heart beat then try to charge you to turn you back on. Hell, it's all in their TOS.

All are gonna recommend Hostgator for sure.....;) I heard bluehost is also good, but never used it..

Although you have registered the domain, i would advice anyone needs to buy from a registrar that belong to your country. so you can sue them if they steal your domain.

Internet.BS :D And hosting, go for Hostgator. They have best customer support.
