Don't know anything about gimp. Illustrator is a good program, but it has a pretty steep learning curve.

MS Paint rocks.
Illustrator is good for making vector images, not sure about drawing though.

I use gimp because its free. Photoshop is great but its too expensive for the amount of time I'd need it for.

GIMP is not really professional, but Illustrator is pretty good.

for vector image illustrator is the best and for drawing you can use autodesk sketchup.

GIMP and Illustrator are very different. GIMP is similar to Photoshop, it's made to edit/create pictures (and logos). Illustrator is a vector drawing tool, that is mainly done for creating stuff from scratch. I'd recommend Illustrator for logos, because it creates better looking logos, and you can easily modify a logo when you want to change something. Also, Illustrator lets you scale your logo without loss of image quality, because it uses vectors. Hope this helped!

Illustrator is the best software for drawing.
It has good ranking and reviews than other software. I also tried it and got very good results from it.

For a decent freeware drawing application, you can try https://inkscape.org/en/.

Of course Illustrator. Gimp is not a tool for a pro.
