Which direct traffic methods should I rely on?

Hello guys,

I'm about to start a blog in the IM/Blogging niche and I'd appreciate if you can give me a few tips on which direct traffic methods I should rely on.

Obviously I'll need direct traffic to start with and I don't want to rely much on SEO at first.

I just need any kind of results and I'm not talking about money, few visitors per day or couple of subs, will be enough to get me going.

I've been learning and lurking around for couple of years and I know plenty of stuff, the thing is, I know most of them in theory and never put them in use.

For example 'blog commenting' seems like great source of direct traffic but I'd like to know the exact numbers so I can put into prospective the traffic I'll be getting so I can focus/expand on certain things. I asked a couple of bloggers and they said about 30-50 visits per comment.

Does anyone know the average number regarding visits you're getting per blog comment? I know it depends on quite few things but I'd like to get the idea.

Also would love to know more about Facebook groups, what kind of traffic you get from there? What other direct traffic methods you use?

Please don't tell me the general stuff,, details is what I need.

For example: "I get 350 visits monthly form my forum signature or 30 visits per tweet from 250 followers".

I'm aware results will vary a lot but I just want a general idea of things.

I know some of you won't be comfortable revealing your methods/stats but if you do, please share.

First off, stop worrying about your viewers and worry about your content. You can't direct anyone to your blog if it's just empty. Search Engines and diligent readers know what they are doing. "If you build it, they will come." You have to have something to say or something to give to the community you're potentially partaking in. Blog commenting and interacting more with the community that you want to be a part of is a good start, this will lift you off. But first you should make your blog a readable and finished site before you try to attract people.

Before anything else, the first thing you should focus on is generating high quality content for your blog, which is specific to your niche. You must be able to choose what niche you're trying to pursue. Also, when it comes to getting traffic from social networking sites, that's something that'll depend on the niche you have. Join Facebook groups that are related to the niche you are pursuing. That's how you'll be able to find your target readers.

Apart from blogging,Forum posting on niche wise forum is one of the good reason to drive traffic on your site.

I appreciate you taking time to write back but I as I said I don't need any general information. I'm aware at how things should be. Creating great content for my readers and all that stuff. I'm just trying to focus on traffic here.

I don't know if you were ironic or not @SearchScrape when you said "If you build it, they will come." because that's not how it works, not at all... I can create the most epic content on earth but if there isn't someone to see it what's it good for? And it sure won't be someone to see it if I don't promote it.

I was asking you guys for actual numbers and you're traffic methods. I'll appreciate it if you give me some pointers with exact numbers and examples.

Rather than attacking people trying to make sure you've covered the basics, you might want to ask a proper question.

I don't know what you're trying to do here but your reply is complete nonsense. "I'm asking questions people can't take seriously?" Are you kidding me? What's not serious about it? I asked MORE than "proper" questions.

If I were to run a website I'd be able to tell that I'm getting (for ex.) 1500-2000 visits from Facebook groups by posting (for ex.) 3 times a day in 10 groups, don't you think?

I was asking if someone is comfortable sharing something like that, even if they aren't they can tell me other direct traffic methods they're using as I asked a bit about that as well, but not telling me unrelated stuff and how to produce content...

There is no specific number of visitor after amount of blog comment! If it is then that is a spider not real visitor! You are looking for direct traffic so go through fb. Its an instant messager? With your local language? Then you can make some local language meme if it is still unique.

LOL, I am calm, I don't need any specific number, just what sort of traffic brings you the most visitors (apart from SEO) and maybe an average number per method if you do want to share.

I already said that I'm aware the traffic numbers will vary from one niche to another with many reasons behind them.

Get content, and traffic will follow as people said. As for specifics, you should just be blog commenting and forum posting manually if you want direct traffic. That's pretty much as far as it goes without relying on SEO like you said. It really depends how many views you get from one blog comment, no one can really say anything for real, you have to experiment and find out.
