Well I Don't Think so currently Eth is Working POW and Because of Network Congestion Matic is Used as a layer 2 solution . You can Googled about Layer 2 solutions and projects. After ETH 2.0 Whole Mechanism will shift from POW to POS. At that time Use of Matic and All Other Layer 2 Protocols Literally Comes to an END . That's what i learned. if you have any Other Thoughts Let me Know . Thanks

On what do you base to say that with the POS the ethereum network will not need that layer 2 solution?
lightning accelerates the speed of transactions through payment channels. I don't think ethereum considering how sloppy it is, can't improve without Polygon.
I am not an expert on lightning and polygon, but I think the future of ethereum lies in Polygon.
