As you only have few laptops and new to this thing, try to engage with one type of currency and I suppose go for bitcoins. I am having 30 GPU's running and creating the traffic. But sometimes I get failed too. Second, have proper machines for this thing.
to make money you should have more than 100 laptop,try to use 20 powerful vps to mine(and dont forget,you need to invest money to start,you cant do anything for free)
You can always try, but over time it won't be worth it. It's awesome to learn the basics but either than that not worth to mine coins. The insane heat coming out of those machines will kill them over time.
I will not discourage you from mining but I will advice you just to join in the trend of trading with the coins instead of mining. trading has proven to be more profitable than mining these days.All the best as you make a correct and wise decision
As has been said many times here, CPU and GPU Mining will never earn you $1/day.
ASIC Miners can earn you about that, with a minor investment of about $100-200.
I run 2 AntMiner 1's and net about $7/week.
With a Laptop you will not do this at all.
