Which CMS should i learn ? Joomla or Drupal

Hi,
until now i only used Wordpress as a CMS even for Static Websites. I love it but i want to make a much larger Website and i dont think Wordpress is good enough for that.

First let me say i am no Coder so i am neither good in HTML or PHP



I dont know which CMS i should learn:

1. Drupal

2. Joomla

(3. Modx)

I want to use one of those because of the large Userbase, Addons and Templates.

Any hints?

I like Joomla and if you decide to go that route, I can point you towards some very good learning resources for it.

Obviously JOOMLA..

But most people tell drupal is better....

you vote vor joomla because its more user friendly?

am biased since i havent used drupal before...

i vote joomla since i have been using it for the longest time and have done some amazing things with it too, once you get over the learning curve and really get into it you will see there are very few limitations to it...

i use joomla for pretty much 99% of all my seo sites but it takes time to figure out how and what to implement, once you get that down you can start pumping out sites like there is no tomorrow

i also did a 2hr presentation at a conference last year with the founder of joomla too about joomla and seo so yeah you could say my vote firmly lies with joomla

Joomla rocks. Offer way more plugins - its like the app store for iPhone. Anything you can imagine!
However, Joomla does have some security vulnerabilities. Make sure you get enhanced security plugins. Just go to the Joomla extensions directory, http://www.extensions.joomla.org, and you will find all you need. Very easy to install and navigate. For some reason Joomla install is tricky in Firefox, i use IE to install it.

tested both personally , joomla is good but it's not suitable for loads of things . Drupal rocks!!! if you know some programming can make superb & nice thing with it !

just curious on some of the comments posted...

i do use enhanced security plugins for joomla just for personal preference but interested in other security vulnerabilities you may heard of with the core code itself as its normally the third party apps which are the weakest link

i know there where issues with the geshi library it uses to pass data to the database but wasnt able to replicate the issue basically you where able to use it to view any file source... including the config file... however a lot of cms scripts use geshi so this issue wasnt just particular to joomla, believe this was fixed with j1.5.10 latest update

other comment i saw was that joomla wasnt good for certain solutions... just wondered what those would be, joomla has very few limitations if you cant find a plugin you can always create your own...

also i dont ever get issues with using firefox to install joomla - however best option for installing joomla has to be via one click install fantastico takes seconds...

Drupal is the best....You can do anything you want....There are some nice drupal videos available here also.

guys other than saying drupal is best - what are the advantages that will convince me to move over to drupal...

does drupal have over 4000+ plugins that can do pretty much anything imaginable

do is it have a list of decent template sites of similar caliber to templateplazza.com, rockettheme.com, yootheme.com, etc

im not being an ass i genuinely want to know whats so good about drupal and why i should start to use it over joomla?

i actually took the liberty to research drupal, having read several drupal vs joomla articles and watched a drupal produced promo video i still dont see anything that would make me move over.

i guess it depends on your experience and knowledge of joomla and your own development/coding skills as to what is best for you...

albeit some items that arent out of the box available for joomla but functionality is available for using third party apps and for the most part are available for free and are extremely simple to install taking just minutes to implement

i will say though it took me two to three attempts to get into joomla... basically like with everything else i refused to read up and how to customize joomla and tried to hack it into working the way i wanted too... that didnt work, i had to read up and understand how it functioned... from there a ripped the thing to pieces it did take me a couple of months to really get into it, but now and certainly with the release of the MVC framework of Joomla 1.5 and well over 200+ sites under my belt, am familiar with joomla as probably you are with drupal

i am sure each cms has pros and cons - so at the end of the day each to their own

just dont be put off joomla if you cant figure it out after 5 minutes of tinkering with it... if you need help/advice about joomla i am more than willing to help where i can, lets put it like this, running my own web development and seo business i have to put a lot of the success of it down to joomla, without the proven results i get from it in the search engines and the ease of which we can put sites together i wouldnt be living as comfortably as i do right now if it wasnt for joomla...

its not just doing a site in joomla is knowing how to get it work for you and how to build it properly... especially when it comes to getting ranked in the search engines...

How do I insert a news feed from feedzilla into Joomla.I have tried the component News Feed Category>News Feed route but still no joy.I used html code from Feedzilla is there another way.I want to put it on an internal page and not the frontpage.
