So I have 3 channel options available for my next project involving uploading YT Shorts, but the question is which one of these channels has better potential to be picked up by algorithm in the early stage?

1) Fresh new channel + fresh gmail + fresh phone
2) Old aged account with 4k subs, millions of views in the past but empty (deleted videos)
3) Transform an off-niche active account with non-monetizable content by privating the videos and changing channel niche completely

Really interested about this as I am in a similar situation… Waiting some wisdom:)

Fresh channel needs a lot of work whereas you will get a edge in Old accounts.

2) Old aged account with 4k subs, millions of views in the past but empty (deleted videos)

On 1 Condition

You need to test for yourself to see the results

Upload few videos and see the results after some days/weeks!

Older channels may already have been limit set regarding authority power of the channel. This will be based on niche of the channel, consistency in posting content and so on.

I would recommend going ahead with a new channel as you can set the limit with regards to authority of the channel by,
1. Posting high quality content from the get-go.
2. Posting consistently - With this I mean, follow a pattern and don't change. If you start with one video and 1 short a week, make sure you continue with it always. You can go with more content, but not less to increase your chances of getting a higher p-score when you monetize the channel.
3. Choose if you want to go white hat or the black hat route. White hat route is longer but will surely be better in the long run and vice versa.

Hope this helped. Best of luck!!!

It doesn't matter. Any of them could get picked by the algorithm depending on your type of content.

I think 2 and 3 have more potential than the first one (the fresh brand new page/channel). The older a channel and something that already has follows or likes are probably the best and you just need to develop regular content to grow the channel.

This has some potential if the existing audience is large enough (a few thousand at least). There's a chance some of them might be interested in your new content, giving you a head start.

If it were me, I would choose options 1 and 2 as the most feasible and easiest to implement.

If am follow one of them then I will choose second option

Reason: already many viewers are available who want to see your post/videos, but keep on your mind content must be valuable or funny or trending topic.

Figured i'd update you guys on this post with more detailed info

So after seeing mixed suggestions I went on and tested out all 3 options at once by myself. Here are some results

Channel 1 - fresh new, new phone, new gmail and basically just a new account received 0 boost from Youtube. All the views it has generated so far in 10+ days comes from Search and some from Shorts section. I'm talking about 10-20 views at best on the channel for 33 shorts + some other long format videos.

Channel 2 - Old aged with 4k+ subs and millions of views in the past, uploaded 4 shorts, pretty much the same result couple of views from notifications/browse but none from the Shorts section, leading me to believe that deleted videos do affect the channel negatively (no surprise here, since metadata stored from videos basically goes away and channel loses the reputation it has built in the algorithm with those videos)

Channel 3 - Now this one is doing better, the channel was in a very different niche than my Shorts content so I chose to somehow pivot my viewers by connecting current channel niche to my desired niche. The channel itself was created 10 months ago and has generated 5k subs and couple of million views. It was an active channel with only long-format videos. Users engaded in videos, community, etc. I posted 6 new shorts in a span of 5 days and most of them reached 10k view mark within a day and then started passively generating some views.

Conclusion: Channel 3 performed best the quickest amongst the other 3. Obviously Channel 1 will perform better in the long run once it has established itself in the niche and YT starts promoting it on its own.
