The best type are natural links from high authority domains with tons of backlinks and traffic. But they are hard to earn.

If you have to buy links go for homepage private blog network links and HQ guest posts.

There's no set type of backlinks that are the "best". You want a backlink profile to have multiple link types. That means you're going to want:

Tier 1 needs have links from real websites with good metrics. Tier 1s should always be your most valued set of links. Guest posts, niche edits, DR40+, and sometimes PBN links.

Tier 2 can be web 2.0s, edu links, social bookmarks, press releases, etc.

Tier 3 can be a little more spammy if you need them to be. Auto approve blogs, wiki links, forum links, etc.

Guestposting backlinks are the most valuable type of backlinks in SEO as they contribute to the domain authority of a website and increase its search engine rankings.

Guest posting can be good for SEO and your wider marketing strategy because it helps you build your brand profile.
 
Guest post and niche edits including quality pbn links and press release.
 
Backlinks from premium websites with high traffic, high DA, DR, Referring Domains and focussed on particular niche (means not magazine type) are best. For example, if you have a website in Home Improvment Niche and you get a backlink from a high authority website on Home Improvement with DA 50+, Traffic 5K per month, zero Spam Score - then the same would be golden. Far better than a general magazine style website with nil traffic and low DA /DR. The more contextually relevant the link, the better its link juice for your site.
