Hello! I have a question regarding buying backlinks and also legit white hat backlinks. Let's say I have a website based around selling honey and the keyword I'm trying to rank for is "local honey" (just random example). If I was to buy backlinks to rank for that keyword, do I need to buy backlinks from websites based around the same keyword I'm trying to rank for. Or is it enough for my website to have "local honey" as a keyword and then any backlinks I buy makes my ranking improve no matter what that site is based uppon?

Topical relevance is a thing without a doubt. If you cannot buy relevance links, opt for generic anchors or a good article that combines the main website topic with your topic for contextual relevance. For example, if the page is about health, you can talk about "Benefits of honey in health". You won't get topical juice for the domain, but contextual relevance because the topic combines both. If you are writing in a generic site like a newspaper, just go for generic anchors, that point to your domain, because they may mostly serve as a reputation source but not a contextual advantage in your niche.

These are the main rules of thumb you shall consider when linkbuilding.

Thank you so much, just the answer I was looking for.

Relevancy is not necessary to rank, however, it sure provides benefits.

The most important thing when it comes to relevancy is anchor text. Then there is page relevancy and finally site-wide relevancy.

Ideally, you want to have all 3. But even if you have none, such a link can still contribute to rankings.

Legit white-hat links may come from anywhere, even unrelated sources, often having misc or topically general anchor text. They push rankings much less then well built PBN links or guess posts but still contribute.

My point is:

power > relevancy

Links contribute about 25% to ranking, along with onpage optimization (25%), quality content (25%), and low-comp keywords (25%). Get those four quarters right, and call it 'LOCK' on doing SEO in an effective and balanced way. For a monetized site the emphasis should be on buyer's keywords (as in "buy Brand Name model X") with longtails that may best capture search intent (as in, "where can I buy Brand Name model X").

Try with quality of content and high DA,PA and TF back-links.

you are asking a question with no right answer. Everyone has their own SEO experiences and everyone will keep defending it no matter what. There are sites out there that are ranking on a most competitive keywords by just doing blog commenting. But that might not work for other person's website :)

As in general, the best link for your honey site will have following features

1. the page is talking bout honey
2. The site is a Honey related blog > Food related blog > health related blog
3. Page has Traffic > Site has traffic
4. Page has Rankings in Google > Site has rankings in Google
5. D0foll0w

Anchor text still has a strong influence on rankings. Make sure your backlink anchor text is diverse and organic. Unique content and backlinks are also important to rank your site.
