Which anti virus program is best?

I heard Norton is the best but a lot of people say they suck. Some say Kaspersky is number one, others say don't waste your money on them. Panda is good I hear but who the hell knows. I use Eset Nod 32 and I am happy (cause I get it for free :>)!
You will get many responses telling you that many different Av's are the best and you still will have no clue.
I would search for sites like pc world or other popular tech magazine sites and compare the reviews from there. Make sure that it is a legit site and not just someone hyping up some shit so you will whip out your credit card.
The best AV depends on what you are looking for. You might get the best protection but it uses alot of space. One might be fast as hell but is vulnerable in certain areas. They all have their strengths and their weaknesses and you will just have to decide for yourself whats best for you.

I used ESET 4, but now I'm on Kaspersky, and I can say that Kaspersky is much better.

I would say that AVG free is quite good, but I don't use any AV anymore. If you are worried about security, you should run all programs from a virtual environment (sandboxie, virtualbox, vmware, etc) and if you are paranoid, do payments from a live linux distro like slax
I used n0d32 but I had a suspicion with one of the programs I installed on my PC so I double checked with kaspersky and it found 2 trojans. then I installed avira and it found another 1. Then Spybot S&D ..this one found another 2 "malicious something" that the previous 2 did not find...
Now I use kaspersky and I randomly scan (just to be sure) with Superantispayware and Malwarebytes.
They are doing pretty good so far...

From that list I would go with Kaspersky, but now I use eset which is very good.

i used Norton Internet Security a few years ago and it ate almost all of the RAM/CPU, so i didn't used it so long (nevertheless it did its job), but now when Core2Duo 2 Ghz processor and 4G RAM is general (in notebooks), it can't be a problem, i also used AVG at my last workplace and i have to say, it sucked big time, it didn't do its job at all, computers were infected all the time, it was insane, we had to reinstall windows almost in every 2 months...
i'm using NOD32 since a several years from now on my home desktop pc & lappy as well (just the AV, not the firewall because it blocked google and whatnot when i last tried
) - maybe they fixed that issue by now - and i'm glad with it, i didn't have any serious infections until now (i've just reinstalled windows on my lappy and it was 3 years old)
so my best bet is NOD32/Kaspersky + common sense
