i just got an iphone 5 send over from asia as gift i tried inserting my sim but it rejected it saying sim locked and stuff i heard some people can unlock such stuff with ime i have no clue to fix this am guessing it all those contract type can anyone direct me to fixing this i think its on ios 7 or 6 dont know as am stuck at the hello screen with insert a valid sim message....a bit off yeah i know but had to ask cheers!

This reply is a bit late however I have experience unlocking iphones ... In the past you were able to visit various websites online and proved your IMEI for a factory unlock but this is not the case anymore. The easiest method I've used is by purchasing a gevey sim card .. you can find them for cheap on ebay or buy them direct. There are instructions on how to register your network to work with that sim floating all over the net. Being that this is my first post I will avoid sharing links but it shouldn't be to hard to find.
 
Try goin on craigslist my friend. They have great deals on there..
 
were you able to unlock it? i found some services but they hall had negative feedback.
