Hi guys,
Im looking to start to SEO my personal/travel site, as I have been accepted to adsense (again).
Ive tried other methods of getting traffic such as tumblr, facebook, pinterest etc.. now i want to step into the SEO world.

Now, my problem is i dont really know where to start, as there are tons of services and programs in the marketplace, and my knowledge of SEO is very little but I do have some.

So could anyone be kind enough to recommend a good place to start (yes ive searched, but as ive said there is a lot of programmes and im trying to narrow it down through customer recommendations)

Thanks for your time guys!

First of all the travel niche is VERY saturated so try to aim for a very niche area. Secondly I wouldn't go with adsense when there are very profitable travel commissions availble from affiliate programs.

In my opinion the first place to start is with your competition. When you search for the main terms you want to rank for, what is the average domain authority of the top 10 sites on the first page? Compare that metric with the domain authority of your site. This isn't the end all be all, but if the top 10 sites have a domain authority of 80 and your domain authority is 10, if you don't have an exact match domain, it will be difficult to rank there. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the starter tips :). Yeah, the travel niche is saturated, however ive narrowed it down to a specific "micro" niche, but still in the travel section

Follow these steps:

1. Competitive Analysis
2. KeyWord Research/Difficulty
3. On Site SEO
4. Off Site SEO
5. Continued KeyWord Research & SEO

I wish you luck as mentioned by another member, the travel niche is extremely competitive and saturated so it'll be difficult to compete with the big companies that are spending thousands of dollars per day on SEO & advertising. Still, I wish you luck and commend you for taking on such a competitive niche.

Thank you Veyron, I will follow them steps.
Again, although its the travel niche is based on a specific travel section, one that i dont think is saturated (will do some analysis tomorrow). On site SEO (keywords etc) i dont really have a problem with, its the off site SEO that gets me. So much information about backlinks, just need to get my head around how it all works and then i can make a move

I usually point beginners to Source-Wave dot com. I'm not affiliated, but he makes SEO really easy to understand, and he's really good at SEO.

Thanks, will check that out later and try get my head around all this SEO linking

Before you buy SEO services I would suggest that you understand how to do SEO yourself first so you know
what you are getting when you are buying services. Always helps to know an industry before spending hard earned money in it.
