Where to start with Freelancing?

Hello guys, I am intermediate developer in Java and know PHP as well, can easily create web applications and stuff. I am trying to get into freelancing but I just don't know where to start and how to get into the industry. Can anybody guide me on that? I mean where to start and how to start getting jobs?

Sing up to different freelance sites & work on your portfolio.
Work on your profile rating and reviews too: I'd recommend you to lower your rates at the beginning to get the first projects (and reviews). It will get easier afterwards. :)
 
Bottom feed if you want to get started sooner and build a live portfolio. Find some initial assignments you are willing to do for less than what you should otherwise demand, but make sure you get positive testimonials out of it.
