Where to start CB business for a newbie?

Depends if you are looking to become a vendor or affiliate, even so whatever you choose there is no magic bullet, you need to read, read and read some more, then implement what you have learned.
Learning HTML would be a good start as you can then build you own sites which are needed for both an affiliate and vendor.
IMO don't waste your time with SEO, it's the most unproductive thing you can do with no guarantee of success and you are always at the mercy of google.
Find a way to generate traffic and then SCALE IT UP!

Short and simple:
If you want to earn by selling CB products then:
1) register to blogspot and create a blog.
2) Write content regarding that particular product and try to make it more of a advice kind of content and Place your hoplink(CB product link generated from CB) at the bottom or at that place where you feel people would click on it.
3) Create a video for that product and upload to youtube
4) optimize the video title, description, tags
5) place your blogspot's product link to youtube video's description with call to action words ofcourse.
6) Get some views for that youtube video using u2bviews etc kind of sites.
7) you'll get traffic from youtube and if your landing page is optimized correctly then you'll get sale.
