Where to post?

Okay to get some signature links, do you feel it is best to post in related forums, or just post in any forum that allows signature links? Like if I have a site on cats, should I only stick to cat forums and blogs and such, or even expand it to pets in general or just post in any random forum that allows links?

Signature links are weak unless you actually participate in the forum. Even then the strength does not come from any major SEO benefit but from referral traffic from others that have an interest in your niche. It's best to focus your efforts elsewhere if you are trying to gain links that help you rank IMO.

To op. Unrelated forums/threads will likely do nothing for you. You're better off finding one relevant one and actually participating and sharing knowledge.

I agree that as a member forum, we haven't need to get a lot of signature links. The important is we have to active in form. We are sure getting the result.

But if you have a signature link you often have to have many posts in a forum before they are allowed so therefor you really are being active, right?

Articles, blog comments, web directories, web 2.0 sites, press releases, Facebook, Twitter and many other places that are free just as forum profile/signature links. Perform a forum search here to find more specific examples.

Well it is a way of getting links. Some says it is weak, but it still has some sort of link juice. How much? No one really knows. But worth a try.

Posting in related forums will reduce the chances of your profile being deleted. But when it comes to mass links it doesn't matter.
