Where to point backlinks to?

Hi guys

Just starting with a new niche website. Keyword research done, resulting in 1 main keyword and 20 long-tail keywords. Then I wrote some SEO optimized content: one post for the main keyword and one for every long-tail keyword. The homepage is just showing last 15 posts.

I am now looking to do some backlinking, but I don't know where the backlinks should point to:
- should I have backlinks to the homepage?
- in that case, should I make the post with my main keyword sticky on my homepage?
- should I have backlinks to the post with my main keyword?
- should I also have few backlinks to every post for a long-tail keyword?
- or should I just have a mixture of backlinks to homepage, main keyword post and longtail posts?

Your ideas are right. My suggestion was,

• Make the post with main keyword with sticky on the Homepage
• And try to get backlinks for your main keyword.
• And you can also concentrate to get backlinks for long tail keywords.

I suggest you to create backlink for your main keyword and also use long tail keyword to get backlink.
These are the three issues to consider during the keyword process:
1. Where to use keywords
2. How to vary keyword usage
3. How often to use keywords

If you stick your home page with main keyword article your backlink work should be little different. Otherwise just point your links to your root domain, main article and long tails. Do get quality links to homepage and main kw. You should also research on the forum to now more about anchor text usage when building links.

For My opinion is you have to build backlinks for both main and long tail keywords. Keyword (Anchor text) diversity is more important factor for SEO that will give natural look to search engines.

And also you have build backlinks for both homepage and inner-pages with the ratio of 60:40 respectively - Its called link diversity method. Feel free to shout a PM of you have any more question.

The backlinks are mainly pointed to site or post using keyword
make sure two posts are related
dont use more than one backlink per article

In summary, I will be building links to homepage, main kw and long-tail-keywords, hopefully with rigth diversity and anchor variation.

Make sure you interlink the shit out of your posts. Then as you get backlinks, the juice will spread around your site. Not just using a related post plugin, in content interlinks. Bulk it up, go for 2-3 links per post. Try to link each long tail article to your primary keyword article, plus 1-2 other posts.
Then build your backlinks everywhere, spread it out. Do 2 to one for your main page to articles.

Your home page with main keyword ( it must have the main keyword) must get about 60-65% of the links. Then the focus should shift towards the pages with long tails, and last but not the least, rest of the main category pages.

Start with the homepage then maintain constant linkbuilding to all important pages.

mainly you need to point backlink to pages where you set keyword in title and also in url.

I'll make sure to pay attention to a fair amount of interlinking my posts. Not really sure, but for now I think to make my post with my main kw sticky on the homepage. I guess it wouldn't hurt to have the main kw on the homepage at any time.

Focus on building your main keyword and get the backlinks from the strong and real blogs that are related your site niche. By the way, the ranking of long-tail keyword also the good thinking, so you can build it wisely to get ranking.
