if i sell something and the buyer pays through paypal where should i move the funds so that ,(just in case) the buyer opens a case, paypal will not be able to lock the money? if i moved it to another paypal account would that work? if not, what about a bank account?

You account will go in minus if there is no fund in account and later PP will send you legal notice to recover funds :p

If someone opens a dispute and wins it won't matter where the funds are because Paypal will give you a negative balance. If you don't clear the negative balance they will eventually use debt collectors. Unless of course your account is a stealth account and they can't find you.

Yes it's stealth, so could i transfer it to another paypal account? or would transfering it to a bank account be safer?

If you are selling something that is designed to be a rip off then Go F##K Yourself.
If the Product is gen then you have no need to ask ..

Transfer founds to the bank account. The problem is if PP want to check founds. In any case you can't be safe if a buyer wants refund and in any case he can get founds.

First of all, your balance would be negative. Only if a credit card is linked to your PP, they can recover funds.
Why worrying about refunds much?

the reason i want to know is because i sell some digital stuff and services so the buyer could just say they never received the item

After the sale, copy the digital product to a DVD, and send it to him return receipt requested.

Problem solved, you have proof of delivery of the product.

firstly paypal usually won't refund for digital products
so you don't need to worry about customer filing dispute

if you transfer funds to other paypal account then there is a high risk of both accounts getting limited

moreover if you genuinely provide quality service then you don't need to worry about disputes

OP, you are thinking small time.
Thinking this way will attract the type of customer you are trying to avoid.
Some customers will always try it on but it is so much better to take care of the customers that don't.
Every business has to write off little losses to those people but they should be a very small percentage of your business.
If they aren't then there is something wrong with your model.

BTW the advice from Techxan will cover you.
