For the most part just having a degree can land you an English teaching job. Some schools may require a TESOL/TEFL certification, which can be acquired online with ease. If you are looking for a really new experience, I recommend looking into China. Very low cost of living and many things to do and see. Typically, a teaching job here pays between 6000-20000RMB/mo depending on experience and location. Most of that money is purely saved since the schools will give you an apartment for free.

Its $13/month for 100Mb/s down and 6Mb/s up from rcs-rds and $21/month for 120Mb/s down 6Mb/s up from upc. And since its located right next to Bulagria fucking awesome tax rate of 10% for a company that would be easy to manage. Romania only is ranked 3rd right now for fastest average internet speed,but is going to be #2 in 2012 and probably #1 in late 2013/early 2014

Oh really? I've only been to Montreal once but it was an amazing trip. It's starting to look like Montreal is the most sensible solution for a big change on the cheaper end of things. Going to have to brush up on my French though haha.
I'd still like some more input on cool places though if anyone else still wants to chime in

It's an amazing city. If it wasn't for my family, I would move to Montreal in a second.
And French isn't all that necessary, in Montreal. Most people in Montreal speak English.
If I were to suggest anywhere else, it'd be New York City. But obviously, way more expensive.

Our original plan was NYC but as mentioned in the OP it's pretty much impossible for us to move/work in the states as it's pretty tough to get a Visa, etc..

Yeah, that as well. It isn't impossible, and I'd say it's definitely easier for Canadians to get a Visa. But again, I was 16 when I moved here, and because of my parents that I was able to get a Visa.

Melbourne and Sydney are great cities. I recommend them both.

I've worked in Melbourne. The main issue is that you feel very isolated down there. Hong Kong, Bangkok and Tokyo are 9-10 hours away. Bali is about 5 hours but I doubt you will want to go there more than once. As for it being unfriendly, let's just say that compared to NY it is like Disney World.

If someone can move to the U.S. to live while they are working in IM,why would the gov't make it so hard for them to do so? They are losing tax money because of it.

Ya I thought it was ridiculous when I read that you need a Visa even to work with a company outside of the US or online or anything.
It's really looking like Canada is where I will be staying but I'm about to look into New Zealand. We only want to try this moving thing for a year at first and see if that's where we want to stay.

I think Sydney would be great, you'd survive there. Plenty of jobs that you and your friend can get and the city has it all. But the downside is the living cost, it is pretty high, you need to rent or share an apartment in the suburbs in order to lower the living cost.
Living in the suburbs (shared expenses with your friend and/or share an apartment with others) will cost you around AU$1500 for each person, but it still depends on how do you manage your daily expenses, so it can be lower or higher. I even had a friend that managed to survive there for AU$1000/month! God knows how he did that, but eventually he did for 3 years.
Jobs there pay averagely above AU$15/hr. Once I worked there part time and they paid me AU$18/hr on weekdays and AU$24/hr on weekends.
Sydney is a beautiful place, there are plenty of sites that you can visit when you are bored with your daily routines. You'd never end up with a situation of not knowing where to go once you get bored.
It's better if you have a friend or relative that lives there, so you can ask for advices and others, such as temporary accommodation once you arrive. If you don't have any friends or relatives, I could give you one of my friends email or phone number.
If you have questions, don't hesitate on asking me. I will answer whatever questions you're going to ask if I can.
Whatever choice that you're going to take, I believe it's the best one for you, so go for it. If there is a will, I am very sure there is a way. Good luck to you both.

If you want something still in Ontario hit up Waterloo. Tech capital of Canada, major universities, lots of turn over of students means there are always jobs, you can get in good with "Communitech" and get a job placement at a nice big tech company, or start your own and find plenty of resources there
