That depends on several factors.

How much time do you want to put in on a regular basis? Do you have a preference at all of what you do?

eCommerce, creating a service, buying & selling/flipping sites/flipping domains, etc?
 
Invest with yourself. Incorporate. Build a brand. Build a website
 
You can make money with money, keeping money in a fixed place seems ridiculous to me, but if you still want to keep your money fixed, you can deposit your money in a currency-protected deposit account.

There are a lot of things you can do with $10,000 - pay off debt, save for a rainy day, or get into the stock market.
I think investing is important, but what's more important is how you do it
 
If i was you i would pay 1k or 2k to a mentor in affiliate marketing to get his course ,teachings etc and in this way i would have a business per life
Of course you need to put work consistency ,discipline to make it work but getting a mentor will save you years of your life

I don't think affiliate marketing is something he should invest his money into. Affiliate blogs have taken a major hit in recent Google updates. Have a look at this affiliate blog's traffic which used to be and is still super popular amongst newbie bloggers here in India.

Invest in something that can grow with time ,can make you more money with less effort on future and you can have some control over it.all this is based on your time,desire and skills
