We have a few agencies in the marketing space that rely on press articles to rank on Google's first page when the name of our marketing clients are googled. We have written articles, included a pic, and whatever we put in the title and backlinked too, always appeared on the first page. For years we have relied on these magazines to provide these articles to help make our clients firms, products, and or services shine like Gold on Google, but starting in October we noticed that mags like tech times and market watch have been dropping rank. Its not just them, but hundreds of articles from hundreds of sites are delisting, and my clients are screaming.
Some of these magazines are staying up like Forbes, vanity, but almost all the others 840 so far, are down page 4.
I have a friend that works at alpha and I spoke to him about this in May and he got back to me informing me that Google is scraping all of the emails sent from VPN's and the like and IP's from other countries (India, Pakistan, others, etc.) and looking for link sellers. Unfortunately, in their infinite wisdom, the spammers use Gmail. Google has built an algorithm to detect these links based upon the responses through Gmail, and interactions and once the mag is on the list, all backlinks and press published will never rank, period. To make matters worse, the articles and links are ghosted on the offending IP's meaning if you look at the search result on your own computer, it shows it's ranking. Which explains why nothing works for backlinks, and the press never ranks.
I knew this day would come, but it does not stop them from spamming bad links by the millions daily and it does not stop Google from collecting each new magazine they spam, and or blog and delisting them.
So, what we need is a broker, or someone that can sell us a new set of magazines that the spammers have not ruined that Google has not delisted. Any ideas? Lots of orders!
