Where to find a great writer?

I'm looking to hire a professional writer. One that has been magazines, online news sites, high DA sites, etc.
I'm a poor writer so it's hard for me to judge who is good. Tried elance and freelancer but they didn't turn up too much.
I don't know where to look?

lol yeah, unfortunately. I was hoping when I stated magazines, news sites, etc., they'd actually read it.
