Where to Find a Cryptocurrency Trading Platform that doesn't Require Phone Number?

Hi,
I'm new to Bitcoin and I've run into a problem before I've even started. So, I've googled for a few platforms where you can exchange PayPal to Bitcoin but they all ask for a phone number.

I find this TOTALLY RIDICULOUS!!!!!

Isn't the whole point of Bitcoin that you process payments anonymously? There is no *****ng way I will ever give anyone my phone number!

So far I've found Coinbase and LocalBitcoins and they both ask me for phone number when signing up.

Can you please suggest a trading platform that allows anonymity? I need to exchange Paypal into Bitcoin.

This is not ridiculous. It is just a common misconception that Bitcoin is anonymous. Bitcoin is not anonymous at all because there are a lot of regulations in place that require exchanges to collect information about customers (KYC). Not to mention, the Bitcoin blockchain is a public ledger so all transactions are publicly available and not anonymous. I would be very careful about using any Crypto exchanges that deal with Fiat that doesn't require verification because most likely, they are not legit. All legit exchanges that deal with fiat will ask you to verify your personal details and phone number. Also, most big companies will not be willing to accept PayPal as a payment method to buy Bitcoin due to chargeback issues. Hope this helps you!

@MasterA1 thanks for the response. It does help understand the system, yes, however, I still think it is totally pointless. Defies the whole purpose of having Bitcoin.

If I have to disclose my details, I might as well write my Social Security Number on a cheque and send it via mail.

Anyway, in the end I went with Paxful as they asked the fewest questions. I was still not comfortable with the process, however, it was much better than Coinbase, whom I'm sure is entirely staffed by idiots, degenerates and retards and I'm happy to sign my REAL name (and SSN) underneath this statement.

If you have a crypto ATM in your area (check something like coinatmradar.com) you can buy with cash (assuming you can withdraw from Paypal to your bank). If you wanted to exchange for other popular cryptos, try BlockTrades. I believe they still don't require a phone number or anything other than an email verification.

Just get a cheap virtual phone for this. No need to give them your real phone number
