    Hey guys,

Anyone have a good recommendation for advertising hosting? I am considering this forum. Your thoughts?

What type of hosting do you offer? I would try and match your advertising to your market. For instance I also do hosting but I do only small business hosting and concentrate on small business who just need small simple professional sites. I do the design also.

For this reason I don't do advertising anywhere online that most hosting companies do because these customers don't ever look there. I advertise in places these customers read such as local business journal type papers and industry specific publications. I'm starting to do CL postings and getting pretty good results from that.

I like this market because the people are cool, they just need a simple professional site - easy to produce and they pay their bills on time for the most part plus they seem to really appreciate it when I help them out. Did I mention they don't use hardly any bandwidth?

I do SEO for them also and it is cake, pretty easy to get on first page of google when you are doing local small town based sites. if on page SEO does not get them on first page then they got to pay more for off page SEO such as link building campaign etc.

    Works for me

Just look at what other hosting companies like yours are doing. If you have too much competition then find a niche and specialize. That is what I did.

Good luck with your hosting venture. :D

The best place to advertise hosting is to purchase banner ads on webmasters forums. This is the place where most of the business people visits for solving their issues.

In my opinion, you should focus on affiliate program, because once you successfully establish affiliates network for your hosting company, then rest of the things like advertising and market promotions will take care by these affiliates. The best example is HG....I know, this is not an easy task, but if you do it in a right way, then definitely the return you will receive probably higher than your expectations.

First off - what are your USPs?

There's so much competition in this industry that without proper specialisation (and offering something that others don't) it's virtually impossible to compete - even if you have a 6- or 7-figure marketing/advertising budget.

Just take a look at WHT - there's literally 10 new "hosting companies" (most of which are obviously one guy who bought a $20/mo reseller package or a $30/mo VPS from some other company) popping up every day, offering dirt cheap prices (it has always amazed me how these guys can manage their accounts and pay their support staff, let alone pay themselves) so really it's one of the worst industries to get involved in ....... unless you can offer something that others don't.

So first of all, before thinking about advertising avenues and spending money on marketing, try figure out what separates you from others OR find a niche/group that's easy to sell to and that competitors haven't spotted (yet).
