I live in Toronto now, and I highly doubt you'll get something here for $500/month! There is an area that you can find $500/month, but chances are... you'll get robbed, shot, and raped all within the same night!
Even to live in residence for university/college where its a 2x2 room with a sofa, desk, and a sharing washroom with the entire floor is $700/month.
Toronto is expansive, but its worth it! The nightlife here USED to be amazing, but we still have around 50-70 nightclubs alive and bumpin every night. All those clubs are within a 20 min walking distance.
If you get someone, then $1000/month rent can get you something decent around Toronto!
I think Eastern Europe would be a good choice for you!
