So I need to tweak and polish up an existing e-commerce website and am looking to hire reliable web developers.

Any suggestions on sites where I can hire such people?

Also, do you guys give out the password to the wordpress installation to the developers or how does it work? Never done it so I am a bit wary of that.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You can just set them up a new account from your Wordpress panel. In regards to where to find them, right here's a decent place

We get ours from onlinejobs.ph mainly. @CRT does the hiring and it's very time-consuming to weed out the bad ones. There are only a handful that actually have the skills required, and about half of those never stay with you long term.

But our current web dev is amazing so there are the occasional gems

Firstly, this is the wrong section for people to be advertising their services.

Secondly, the short answer is yes. Obviously they'll need access to the WordPress backend.

To be safe, create a new admin user in Wordpress, and make a backup of your site in cPanel. If anything goes wrong (they change your password, delete all your posts, etc), you can restore the site to its former state with minimal loss or effort.

Excellent advice, @Conor. :)

Not only is this the wrong section for them to be advertising their services, but OP wasn't even necessarily looking for anyone from this forum.

Anyway OP, whenever I do one-time web design work for people, they usually do what Conor suggested and create a new account on their site for me to access (most of these sites are Wordpress sites).

Also, be sure to thoroughly research the person or company you're planning on hiring for this project. You don't want to end up having to Shit List them later because some joker who spams every thread with their Skype ID ran off with your money or didn't deliver.
