SEO for months, rankings are not only, not improving, but they've also got worst, and I'm now not ranked for anything, really.

www.dotascene.org /// www.dotascene.org/forum

Any chance someone could advise me of things I should or could be doing to improve on my site?

Anything!

May i know why you redirected http://www.dotascene.org/ to http://www.dotascene.org/blog/ ????

You are building backlinks for doascene.org but its redirecting to dotascene.org/blog. It may be the reason. And i am not seeing sitemap and roborts.txt present on your domain. And you should place more fresh content. If i know your keywords i can help you better.

good observation. This most likely could be the problem. what he could do if it is possible is put some of the blog comments on the first page if he really wants people to know what is going on in his blog, and remove the redirect.

CONTENT! I have a site with 100+ pages, each with like 400 words of PERSONALLY WRITTEN CONTENT, and even then, I only get like 20 to 30 visitors a day. This shit is THAT hard these days. I'm sorry, but I've tried a lot of techniques and I'm starting to believe that the only way to make it is via one of the following:

#1. EMD with carefully built backlinks.

#2. Authority with CONTENT.

And your site doesn't really fit neither, or at least not that I can tell.

*shrugs*

I hope that helps.

Why would I need a robots.txt?
I can work on content for sure! My keywords would be pretty much anything Dota related. So; Dota, Dota 2, Dota 2 Guides, Dota 2 News, Dota 2 Updates etc etc. - What kind of a redirect would I need to set up? - Ahhh I feel so stupid, if I'm missed something simple and it's just ruined my site.

The front page is /blog though. It's the blog.

What do you mean the site doesn't fit?

Also, with just a simple PHP/ HTML front page about 6 months ago, I was ranking under 100 for many keywords. So it's not just about the content for my niche, although, yes content does reign supreme.

What would be my list of priorities?

Also, I appreciate all of your help. Great to see BHW is still the amazing place it used to be!

I got an emd too which is not a blog(it's my custom handmade CMS). I still get 50+ visitors per day and 2-3 sales. So I don't really understand how a 100+ pages site can only receive that amount of traffic. emd stills works for me!

See no one can really tell you why your site not ranked well. We need to digg more on your backlinks, competitor's, keywords, etc.,
With the details you provided here, i guss it may be dude to redirect. You have build backlinks for dotascene.org so dotascene.org should rank for the desired keyword. But dotascene.org got redirected to dotascene.org/blog and i can see there is no backlinks pointed to dotascene.org/blog.
I feel this may be a problem. And i see no point of having redirect to /blog. So you can consider removing redirect and poin your site back to dotascene.org. It may work out. But i am not sure. I need more details from you if you need to know exact reason/solution.

You should check your competition. You have TONS of big players in that niche! First 10 websites on dota have 6+ years of age... PR of 4 or 5... and they have from 60k to 5 millions backlinks! and your dotascene website is PR1 with 700+ backlinks. I think you just have too much competiton just continue the good work!

edit: btw i just checked "dota" keyword prolly the same for other keywords!

Just looking a little bit in your back links profile, you need to amp up the link number and add in some contextual links. Stop focusing on the sh!ttier back links like blog commenting etc. Also throw in some relevant guest blogs, web 2.0s etc. Your blog side of the site is also pretty low on content, you will want to add more blog posts with relevant keyword titles for long tail searches etc.

This has also helped me out. Nice to see BHW come together!

Good Luck Anyway, Keep Going!

Can I redirect the juice from dotascene.org to dotascene.org/blog ?

Yes I noticed that your competition is really strong, You should just put the blog into the dotascene.org directly instead of redirecting!

I understand I have a lot of competition for "Dota" because the game has been around for about 10+years. I'm looking at niche keywords, good search and low results.

You're over analyzing to the extreme. I rank 1 page sites in 1 day that get more than 20-30 hits/day.

Methods please.

Try to switch over to something else, for example, social signals from popular accounts or building a newsletter subscriber list...

By the way, John Chow is doing a good course regarding building a succesful email list + you have 60 days money back guarantee (no questions asked)

Relax and enjoy the wave ;)

Emailing lists, I have a list of at least 10k emails, however they all end up in the spam folder, any way around that?

Your site is empty/no content... not sure what you want Google to rank.

You should concentrate on just the forum, the site is terrible. however your forum is getting visitors, so you should seek out places where you can drive traffic from, like facebook & youtube videos, register on gaming forums...
