Where do you guys get trusted information on hosting, plugins, seo etc?

Say you google something such as "what is the fastest host for wordpress". You'll get a heavily optimized SERP. Youtube and forums are full of fake reviews as well.

So what's a good place to get actual, trusted information?

E.g. I'm just trying to find out which wordpress e-commerce plugin is best. Ofc I could just look at the most downloaded ones, look into them and decide for myself.
But it just made me wonder.

What if you want quick, trusted, unbiased info? Is it even possible these days?

I also feel like more and more "regular" people start to become aware of all the fake reviews/likes/shops.

It’s tough to find accurate information as most of the sites are affliates, and the only way to find are 1) manually hit their support and see how they work for hosting. eg a very popular host helped me even when I was not their customer, and i knew they were the right one for me.

Two search their brand name plus complaints and see if those seem genuine or fake, if it’s fake means that plugin is actually good and you should use it.

join Facebook groups where sharing links is not allowed you will find good recommendations there too

Thanks, the FB groups are a good recommendation!

I really wonder what the developments are going to be the next coming years in regards to fake reviews, likes, comments.

Is there, perhaps, anything comparable to WooCommerce?

I always ask here and there. Depending on what I'm looking for. For example for WPO topics I comment on a FB group called WP Speed Matters.
So for example, if I'm looking for a social media sharing plugin that is fast, I may ask there. If I care on functionality other than speed, I may ask in a different place.

Generally it's better to ask in the forums, or read others forums answers. Reddit is also a good source of information

The worst options are generally, as you say, this overoptimized sites with "The best 10 ecommerce plugins", or Quora (where the authors of those plugins write to explain why they are the best)
 
Few users tend to share their terrible experiences with such services here.
Use the search filter to dig them up.
