Check out SEObook.com's membership. They have a ton of resources and a lot of white hat SEO talk in there.

Courses, books, forums they are a really great source of knowledge. However I'd like to advise another method of learning. Learn by testing. Action is important.

There are lots of SEO methods hailed by masses as "DEAD". But sometimes if you test them you'll see that some dead methods work.

Moz.com has an SEO Beginner's Guide. It is all white-hat and a good source to begin with. I agree with a poster above that the best way to learn is by doing. Take the information you glean from the beginner's guide and the other sources mentioned here and put them into practice on your own website. Then learn by watching what happens to your rankings and traffic.

Reverse Engineering is also a very good way to learn. You can analyze backlinking strategies used by sites that rank at first spot and try to replicate those methods.

How to do this for free:
    1. Go to Google and search for something competitive (example: product reviews)
    2. Copy URLs of websites that rank on top spots.
    3. Use backlinkwatch and ahrefs free account to analyze backlink profiles.
