Where can I learn about backlinks

I am just not getting or understanding hot to apply backlinks to my site, I have commented on url similar to my site niche i just commented with my blog url and i used ahrefs to see how many backlinks i got but i got nothing. Just how do i do or learnbacklinks is there a link which shows this for beginner to learn the whole backlinking process. Do i have to read/learn seo and it will also show how to do backlinks i want to know how the links if you know what i am saying?

Arefs won't show the backlink as soon as you posted the comment. It takes some time for their bot to crawl the commented page and index it into their database. I suggest you to read the Moz page quoted by Aty to learn more about backlinks and how it works, etc..,
 
Well you have found one of the biggest SEO discussion forums, just get searching and reading.

You don't apply them. You contact the site owner (another gaming website) and introduce yourself in an email. Offer to write (or share) something with them. If they accept - write the post. Once you've done this, put the link to your site at the bottom of the content that you create for that person.

Note: Occasionally, people may restrict the type of link you can put in.

Here's an example: dareos owns his gaming blog where he talks about (idk, but at a guess) Final Fantasy.

"gaming blog" is where you place the link.

This is how you place the link: <a href="YOUR LINK HERE">gaming blog</a>

THE ABOVE EXAMPLE IS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT A BACKLINK LOOKS LIKE - PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD READ THIS. :)

However, not all sites allow you to post links like that.

No. But you do need to learn patience. Also, take the time to read what other people have said to you - I can tell from the amount of threads that you've created recently, that your eager to get going (which is a good thing). That being said, you're rushing too much and I get the impression that you're only skim reading valuable advice.

building links yourself is not really a whitehat topic - more blackhat seo. But ye linkbuilding is a big can of worms [link to pic of big can of worms being opened]
 
Blog commenting is an obsolete and spammy tactic so you shouldn't start with that. More to that, almost always links from blog comments (even if you get any and don't get banned) are "nofollow", i.e. not counted by search engines. Check Moz' Beginners guide to SEO as other suggested and if you're looking for more link building practices, make sure to check out this guide on link building strategies: http://pointblankseo.com/link-building-strategies. why no ? seo is important. the rules changed now, backlink has small portion than before.

where it says your link here is that where i put my site url and where it saysgaming blog is that where i put the keyword for what i am trying to rank or it's the sites title, and what if i just comment with my site url isn't that a backlink also also if the site is still not showing backlinks what do i do to make it show up i hear something about pinging the backlink how to do that and do i just comment at sites, let's say for edu and gov sites how woul'd i add backlinks of my gaming site to that?

So a backlink is anchor text with a keyword posted on another site similarto your site and in order to rank your site you can post it on guest blogs with something discussed related to your site or highpage rank forums and that url of that blog or forum with the thread post of the backlink must be pinged through pinger so the googlebots can find that backlink. Whoul'd these be considered as tiered limk building also or it's another way backlinking? How can these be used with Senukexr too?
