Where can I find a sharp seo consultant

Well, there ain't no such thing as a free lunch. There is great resources at this forum, but I need a bit more help than what can be found here. Almost all of the real experts are doing their own thing, so I was wondering if someone could please advice about where to find a sharp seo consultant that could give some advice (will pay very good)?

SEO companies won't teach you what and how they do it. They'll only do the SEO for you. If they taught you their secrets they would be creating competitors.

I think an real sharp SEO Consultant, is already making this much that your coaching fees will be tiny!

It's not coaching, just how to approach a specific project I'm working on.

I think the issue is that those folk who can consistently rank sites work on their own project, and don't spend a great deal of time and effort on anyone else's projects.
You might get lucky and find someone with a truly altruistic motive, otherwise, it's the blind leading the blind - one paying the other for the privilege.

Well the first thing you can do is Search for the term "SEO" if they are ranking chances are they have an understanding of what they are doing. Think about, people who are trying to rank for SEO are likely involved in the industry and the ones that are near the top are doing it better than the others . (IN THEORY)

If you find a company that takes clients, they likely wont spill all their secrets but they should give you an idea of what good basics look like.

Not all SEO's do their own thing, some do SEO and make plenty of money doing just that. You can also use Black hat techniques to rank but most of the time they get sniffed out after a while. That does not matter too much if you have a disposable site, you rank and bank and start over when you get dumped but if you have a brand or a business you want to play by the rules as much as possible. Even then you can still get dumped because the rules change quickly but damage control is easier to handle in those cases.

Do your homework and see what is out there.

IMO, start reading. Get familiar with the bloggers who are leaders in the space. After a little while you should be able to discern who is "sharp" and who is not.
