- you want free whois privacy
- and most importantly what matters is not registration price but renewal price.

Whoever recommends godaddy is a noob who can't do math. What help is it to buy a domain for $1 if you renew it for $20?

^This. Not to mention that if you make the mistake to add privacy - good luck of removing it to not pay another $10 per year or to get the domain out of there.
