Long story. We originally were looking at doing 2 or 3 years in Egypt, but the political scene there changed. Then went to Koh Samui and looked at long term rentals there, but at the time it was too long a journey in case we needed to get back to the UK.

I've always liked Spain, the pace of life, the weather and the culture, plus it's 2 1/2 hours from UK so family and friends can get across easier.
It's been 20c and sunny here today, was out in just a shirt. My old hometown has had snow the past 2 days, high of 6c and lows of minus 2.

Ha ha I'm up North again now. We used to have an events and conference business and I've been asked a lot of times to organise one.
Might be something to consider for 2024, I'll tap up a few friends at ChangMai in November for availability.
 
I'm from Jaén, Spain.
A small town located in the south and surrounded by olive trees.

Wow, I imagine you have lived in various places in the country, Jaén is not a very attractive province for tourists and the airport is far away.

We lived in Granada region, overlooking the lake in the middle of nowhere. Bliss. Downside as you say, is the hour and 15 drive to the airport.
