I am a freelance designer and I cannot seem to get any work lately. I have tried all the freelance sites I know but evidently my prices cant compare to what overseas guys are doing. The big part is I know my quality is a hell of alot better.

So my question is how are these freelancers getting there work and competing with such a price difference and making a decent income? I know I cannot compete with the prices others are quoting.

I tried to go to my local businesses but I live in such a small town no one here wants anything done.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

I do not know my graphics designer charges about 150 for a landing page but he is usually working on abut 5 or 6 at a time. If you can not compete at those rates it is best to do like the rest of them and join a team. As a team the work is spread out evenly and can be done faster and everyone reaps the reward.

Hell I only charge $75 - $100 per LP and still cannot find the clients, I have threads on quite a few forums and BHW is the only one that the members supply me work.

Not really fond on joining a team because then people step on others and I prefer to be a one man operation.

Check Craigslist. Even if the companies are looking for an in-house designer, if you have a decent looking portfolio, you can contact them and request that they put you in their Rolodex or Contact list if they need something outsourced.

Also, learn the Google Maps Cash method (Posted in the downloads section). You can get yourself in front of the search traffic via a 10-box local search.

Hope that helps . . .

Maybe I can help you out. Ive been a freelance designer for more than a year now and I dont advertise on any forums for jobs. I just have portfolios on websites such as behance and deviant art. I charge alot more than you aswell so maybe you should try those sites out.

Well heck you definitely need to check out another forum that has a lot of freelance LP designers. With this "other" forum check out what it is they are doing and I can guarantee you will not find anyone there doing them that cheap.. No I am not referring to Dip shit forum either.. I am referring to a forum of self righteous self declared gurus. Might wanna check it out sorry for being cryptic.

Appreciate the responses will try all the advice out.

Ohhh at the other forum you need to get clout more activity means more eyebalss eqauls more people who use your service. My LP designer I paid 150 to comes from that forum so yeah his thread was 3 pages long coarse I went with him. 3 pages and nothing but great work and other type of comments..

Hint get some friends to start asking questions and such then come back and say you did a fantastic job or whatever. It is underhanded but it creates activity fake activity leads to real activity.

Yea I have been on freelancer, guru, elance, and os something. But its hard just starting out with no feedback and competing with the prices on them.

Yes, having a protfolio on websites like this will ceratinly boost your work price up. So, you should consider giving it a go.
