Where am I supposed to live?

I'm a 17 year-old Syrian refugee, I currently live in Saudi Arabia where I'm not a citizen and nor can be. Here in SA, I almost can do nothing because I'm not a citizen, I cannot own a home - I should rent, I cannot own a business - I should partner with a Saudi individual, even living here requires having a sponsor (a Saudi guy/institution who is responsible for taking care of you, your licenses and your living/working permits). So, I'm planning to move.

I'm only 3 months away from completing high school, and I'm wondering, where am I supposed to go to pursue my studies and reside after I'm done? If I had to choose, I probably would go for the US. First, because I'm more familiar with the language and the culture than with any other country, and second, I find that it is one of the best enviroments for business, I've heard of many international students who have succeeded with their businesses in there. Note that for the US, I'm gambling on getting a scholarship, I'm not - at the moment - ready to pay $20k+ a year plus living expenses.

Europe is my plan B, specificly Germany, the tuition there barely reaches a thousand euros a year for almost all universities, but I find it challenging to learn the language and the culture from zero, and even if I did, I still don't prefer to live in a non-native English speaking country.

The problem also with the US is whether I'm welcomed there, and if yes, what about my family? From what I've seen, many students aren't allowed to live there after they complete their studies, it's hard to get a PR in the US when compared to other countries - say Germany, and I guess the same goes for Canada and other English-speaking countries.

I know for sure that I'm going to make it wherever I go, but I think that this decision is going to affect me a lot, that's why I'm sharing this.

i'm not gonna say which one is better, but from my perspective, learning german is not too hard when compared to other languages, you only need about 1 year for learning it for appropriate

As for Germany, there are countless refugees entering Germany every day. It is definitely not as easy as before, also because someone of the refugees decided to become criminals. Almost every day you can read in the newspaper how a Syrian refugee raped or stabbed a person, sometimes even children. So objectively speaking, the refugees are definitely not as welcome as before. Currently, there has been much news about how local people are protesting against refugee camps in their cities/villages, as they are sick and tired of that crap.

Also, once you arrive there, they will probably put you into a refugee camp somewhere in the middle of nowhere, in a small town. You won't have that much of a choice. Why? Because of the sheer amount of refugees that are entering Germany. Please don't be naive and think you could just enter Germany as a refugee, get help and housing, and then could easily enter a University. This could have happened in 2015 and 2016, but not anymore.

I am not quite sure about your situation, as you said you are willing to pay $20k per year for housing, etc. So, basically you are not a refugee, but a normal citizen who wants to live abroad? Because refugees would be a person who escapes from war, etc. and who needs help to survive.

Why don't you go back to Syria as the war is mostly over? People literally go to Damascus for holidays or visiting family from what I can see. They already start rebuilding the cities.

Get uncomplicated : Move to Asia.

With $20k+ a year you can live anywhere I guess.

Malaysia is also a good option if you are looking for PR.

Or Australia maybe.

I guess getting a visa will be a problem.

He could apply for a study visa tho. The only concern is: He wrote he is a Syrian refugee, so they will probably reject his visa application.

that's true, but I've spent nearly 8 years of my life communicating and researching in English, and for sure I will still use the language even if I went to Germany. Whereas German is gonna take me a while to learn, and it's not going to benefit me but in my daily life of studying.

I've never heard of such news, that's bad actually.

I might have used the word "refugee" wrong, yes, I've escaped from the war, but I'm living an average life here in SA and I have a residence permit.

you're right, it's liveable there, but it still have many limitations in terms of electricity and internet connection for example, like you might have the electricity for only 4 hours a day, even water comes and goes. Also, it doesn't fit my big dreams and plans, I do care about the quality of studying and living, and I do care about the market and the consumers around me.

I mean, moving from Saudi Arabia to Malaysia doesn't change much, the market, the economy and the quality of studying and living are pretty much identical in both countries. Plus I would need to learn the language.

Australia is on my list actually, they have decent universities and they speak English.

You sound like a hard worker, I'm sure you will find your way. Europe is not far away and most countries speak English as their second language. However, as Nakamura mentioned it's pretty complicated. Many refugees have unfortunately gotten bad reputation, and the migration laws are getting more strict every day.

However, since you have money, and the will to succeed, there are a lot of opportunities. As you mentioned, you could apply for a study visa pretty much anywhere you want, during your studies you can meet the partner of your dreams and get married, or get a work visa. There are also a lot of countries that give residency if you start a business and invest. Heck, some countries even give you citizenship for the right amount. (Some countries in the Caribbean, for example, offer citizenship and globally respected passport for $100k, all legit!)

Since this is blackhatworld, I'm assuming you are into internet marketing? There are loads of opportunities on the internet which could give you a head start no matter where in the world you are located. Just browse through the forum and find something that interests you and stick to it.

Keep striving for that study visa though, as it would give you a good 4+ years in your desired country. Good luck!

You said you're familiar with american culture, have you been there ? or you're just watching too much movies, because I'd like to break something for you : you have a bigger chance getting to europe as refugee than to the US, maybe try canada ?

As others mentioned above, you should look after getting a study VISA first, you can start from there, and $20K a year will get you way better education in countries like Malaysia and Turkey.

I didn't have that much of a succeed in IM, but I'm working on it since November 2022, I didn't yet find the best business model that suits me, so I'm kinda wandering.

I don't often watch movies/TV shows, but I read experiences in books and forums, I also watch a lot of content creators in many different fields that do live there, so I'm kinda used to what's allowed there and what's not, what's considered good and what's considered bad.

I'm not gonna apply as an immigrant, I gonna apply for a study visa just like any other international student.

Yeah the budget might be even less than that and it's limiting my choices, but I'm looking for scholarships that could help such a budget to be enough.

I don't think that I'm going to another middle eastern country, I'm looking for better chances.

Isn't Mexico unsafe to live especially right now? I also don't know what are the advantages of going to there.

Why not go back to Syria from what I'm hearing Assad is starting to make friends in the Arab world again and things are starting to look up.

Europe is becoming more and more hostile to refugees from the middle East as a lot of them have been involved in crime and rapes and hanging around outside schools.

I here the term 'rapefugee' used more and more to describe the Arab fighting age males who turn up in Europe. Things are going to get very very ugly indeed.

From what I see, you've got too many opinions about the whole world countries, and that's too much for a 17 years old who's restricted from travelling, Good luck with that buddy.
