When will people be able to fly into space?

Of course I'm in no hurry to go into space, but for many years they have been promising that soon we will be able to fly into "space travel" but nothing is being done for this as far as I know. Maybe it's time to save some money?

There are too many people and energy is epxensive.

You don't watch the news too closely then. Space tourism is already a thing, it's in the early stages.

The first ever space tourist paid $20M in 2001, yes 2001, for a spot on the ISS. A dozen followed. There weren't private spacecrafts at that time, they travelled with government spaceships.

Richard Branson's company, Virgin Galactic is the world's first commercial spaceline. They were the first to bring private people to space last summer with their own spacecraft. Jeff Bezos owns the Blue Origin aerospace company. They were the second private company to bring tourists to space soon after Virgin Galactic. With both companies you can actually signup for space travel.

SpaceX also brought a privately-funded crew (4 people) to the ISS a month ago.

Roscosmos too sent tourists to space.

For a suborbital trip on Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo and Blue Origin's New Shepard, seats typically cost $250,000 to $500,000. Flights beyond that to actual orbit are far more expensive, fetching more than $50 million per seat.

You can start to collect the money.
