    Hi guys,

When using themes like themeshift, it has a link at the bottom like "Website designed by Themeshift" and then a link back to their webpage.

I want to remove this. Is there anything specific I should type in to Google to find out how to do it ? I am not very good with websites, I know how to put up and customise WP sites a bit, but when it comes to coding, this type of stuff I don't know too well.

    Thank you!

You just need to edit the footer.php file.

Search phrase "remove link in footer"

Ok great I will type that in to Google and read about it. Thanks a lot for that. I thought it might be something in the footer, but was not entirely sure if that was the actual link to be removed.

Will read up on it ! :)

This is exactly right. I do it all the time with my WP sites. Be sure to "cut" and "paste" the code you remove onto Notepad or Word (or some equivalent) in case you removed something you shouldn't have and need to put it back in...

Besides on footer.php, you can check header.php where sometimes, the call home also put there.
If it's not encrypted, you can safely remove that links.

Sometimes you can remove the encrypted links without killing the theme, if the encoder isn't too bright. Actually I don't think I ever killed a theme by deleting encrypted code before.
