When to user Sp*lit te*st acce*lerator ?

I have read various forums for STA (sp*lit te*st acc*elerator) and have understood (maybe wrong) that it is used for sales page. my question is whether STA is used only for sales page and thank you page ? suppose i have a frontpage wherein there is no sales info or product promotion, but just informative about my website, is it feasable to test it in S*T*A ? can i optimize frontpage for SEO for keywords and density and ranking on S*T*A ?

Any SEO gurus please advise !

1. Can i increase page views in search engine ?
2. Can i find better metadesc and keywords for a page which is not a sales page but just content page ?
3. whether it will help me boost page rank ?
