when to let go the domain and start all over again?

I have a domain which I SEO'ed few months (about 6 months) back... get ranked for about over a month and then i stopped building backlinks and eventually lose rankings... for the past months (past 2 months) i constantly building backlinks the same way I've done before but the results are unfortunate.. Will disavowing backlinks and start building again helps?

I have put so much effort on this domain website. I did everything on my own a pure html website, the graphics, coding, scripts etc. So I'm really hesitant to lose it and build a new site again.

Is it time to get a new domain and leave this website or give more chance?

Do you not rank at all within top 1000 results for your keyword? Are you sure there is nothing wrong with your link building strategy?
 
Don't give up man. Just install WordPress, and start porting your articles to it. A pure handcode site is not good for IM.

the first SEO done which was about 6 months ago, I was ranking on first page...
second try SEO because the ranking was lost. I'm sitting at top 200+.

Thanks but, do you think changing it to wordpress will work? Also why not it's not good?

Try changing your link building technique, you may soon start ranking again. You do realize things keep changing, 6 months is a long enough time to have certain strategies no longer working.
 
WordPress has more filler data in it (mostly code) and has outbound links within its code. It's more appealing to google than simple HTML. Also, its plugins greatly facilitate SEO, for example: add-meta-tags.

People just tend to like WordPress sites better than handcode html. They are more likely to buy stuff on a pretty looking site than an html site.

thanks but have done the same strategy on web2.0 sites which quite a good impressive results... I stopped doing web2.0's they rank like hell and then flagged like hell. really waste of time.
 
Give it some more time,i say.You don't need to leave that work.You have put a lot of efforts on that.You really need to post original content to the site.It all matters on how the pages are optimized. Just have good on page SEO, and high quality backlinks, and it will rank well.
 
Definitely don't disavow.

I've had this happen and typically it does happen with about 20-30% of my sites. Either the progress slows, or it starts dancing around 4-5 page for no apparent reason.

Just build moderate backlinks every week (1-2 high PR backlinks) and try to figure out what could possibly have happened when your SERP climbing went stale. Its possible that your anchor text distribution started to get non-ideal when you resumed backlinking.

100% of the time this happens to my sites, after 3-5 weeks of resuming at a steady pace, they pop back up on page 1.

thanks for this info... I'm continuing building backlinks today and so on until i noticed some changes.. ups or downs...

I think you have a point. I just checked it now and my keyword density is amazing 8%!!!!!! LOL... ok better working on...
