when setup G analytics, does it matter use www. or without www?

when create account, say, if use www.mysite.com, is it different from mysite.com? I mean if someone input mysite.com (no www) in browser, will it track it too?

or, better use mysite.com?

www and non www are 2 separate versions.. If ur site indexed as www, then add the www version ..
u can always set ur preferred url in webmasters tool.

really? I used the site:mysite.com, it returned about 750 pages, if I used site:www.mysite.com, it returned about 800 pages. I guess both www.mysite.com and mysite.com are indexed.

the question is: what I should use in analytics now?

first did u build backlinks to any of these domains (www or non www) ? If u did, choose that domain as preferred domain.
then follow these steps,
1.choose preferred domain in webmasters tool
2.put a htaccess 301 redirect to ur preferred domain.
3.add canonical tag to ur index page

then choose ur preferred domain for analytics,

I usually stick with the plain domain and use it in both the webmaster tools and analytics. You can set what is the main domain too and let google show just it (and not the www one)

Yeah you need to do this ASAP, as if both your non www and ww are indexed you more than likely being held back due to duplicate content!
