When PCs or laptop start getting old, do they also become slow

easy
1 get a ssd (use a good brand)
2 get the max ram available for the device
3 install latest win or mac os
4 enjoy

Yes they become slow it coz of lot of things

To speed up the existing PC replace the hard disk get OS in ssd disk, change the RAM if the board supports new version, Increase the RAM, Change thermals on CPU, Replace or add fans for better air flow

Then wipe of the thermal paste from CPU. your wish to learn lesson trying to wipe ass of egg

RTX 3090 will become a slow-old GPU for poor people in few years

You will waste money trying to buy new laptop. Don't buy new Laptop unless you have a fixed job that pays good amount of money like $500 per month is great for me.

Yes I have many such jobs.

Defragmenting the HDD or a fresh OS install on a formatted disk can do wonders. If you experience a slowdown, try this first before touching the hardware. Otherwise, if there's no hardware issue, after reformatting the disk and freshly installing the OS, there should be no performance difference between a new machine and the same machine, when it's used. The difference is in the things you use.

The performance stays the same, while the applications you use get more demanding with the new versions, hence you experience a slowdown. That's when more RAM and switching the HDD to SSD can make a big difference.

I have windows 10 that came installed with the system . How to format and install Windows again? I mean I do not have windows 10 file with me separately.

You should always do that.
Clean it and change thermal paste every 6 months
You can do it and and i think it will be better performance
I haven't changed paste for 2+ years same performance

1st thing I normally do is to replace the hard drive, then add some ram and do a dust cleaning...

You can download the Win 10 iso from the MS website for free and i suppose, if your device came with Win 10 pre-installed, you have a legit product key, so you can simply re-use that to activate the newly installed OS.
When i bought my last notebook, the key was written on the back of the machine. This might be different in your case, but you can find the product key this way too:
  1. Press Windows key + X
  2. Click Command Prompt (Admin)
  3. At the command prompt, type:wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
...or by using one of the other methods listed here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...duct-key-aaa2bf69-7b2b-9f13-f581-a806abf0a886

Pay attention to the OS version though, if you have Win 10 Home installed presently, you need to install that version again, because your key won't work with other versions.

If your machine has an optical drive you can burn the iso to a dvd, if not, you can make a bootable flash drive and install the OS from that.

I think pc is just a machine and require repairing and caring for it just like other machine and removing the dust every 3-5 months gives you more effectiveness

It won't be the same since you can't track it.
We only believe in numbers and now how you feel about it+ we do that for the better life span of the device also.

most likely your SSD, since data accumulated and they become "jaded". If I recall they can rewrite the space for x times only. For a PC, I set a lifetime of 5 years, after that use them as your bot pc/staff pc, not your main pc
