If a PBN gets hit by google, is it a rule of thumb that all the sites linked to from that PBN will get penalized as well?

Or the PBN gets deindexed and the link value to other sites is just lost?

In most cases the money site will get rank drop only if the pbn is not a dedicated pbn.

PBN will point many links to many domain. Google will not penalize all the site. You will see only the SERP change.

Thread moved.

Google will deindex the PBN and you lose the backlink. The loss of backlinks will cause page to lose some rankings.

I was checking rankings last night and one page I ranked #2 for has over time slipped to #6. Sure enough 10 PBN links I bought a year ago were gone (deindexed). No penalty or anything, just a slip in rankings.

did you buy those 10 PBN links from BHW seller? if so, will you raise a ticket with them?!

most of the sellers have only 12 months guarantee for homepage pbns they don’t renew it so don’t think he can file a sl

It cannot happen. If that would work, then anyone would be able to deindex any site he wants. the worst that can happen is rankings drop to your money site.

Mind sharing where you bought the PBN?

The purchases I spoke of all.occurred here in BHW. The PBN that mentioned earlier was from a seller that is no longer on BHW. I have bought from a few providers and a month later I am asking for replacements, Which they do, but they don't last either. It's a waste of my time so I move on.

I won't be giving out names. If I've had issues I almost always leave an updated comment on thier BST. My point is to be selective from whom you buy pbn link. If you want to get honest feedback PM a few guys that bought links but never left a review. Then you will get an honest review.

For money site, it depends on your site quality and backlink profile if you have more quality links then no problem.

Depending on how effective PBN site is and how many links you passed to money site, there will be drop in SERP and site authority.

I've had both happen in the past. A few times, my money sites got deindexed as well. Those were churn and burn projects however and those PBNs were terribly built.

Most of the time, the PBN gets deindexed, money site remains intact, but it loses tons of power backlinks and it might pretty much fall off the cliff. Google hates when sites lose links.

I've also seen a few cases where, after the PBN penalization, the money site never recovered the rankings. Like everything SEO, it's very "ad hoc" scenario.

Regarding purchasing of PBN backlinks - As it has already been mentioned here, be very careful whom you are buying links from. For longer-term projects, which you are planning to work on for a couple years, bought generic PBN links are an absolute no go.

If you want to have a nice "quick" ROI, then by all means, use them, but even then be very careful.

I will open my mouth here now - The blue colored name and a nice fancy sales thread with a few cute reviews doesn't mean, that the seller is qualified to turn on a computer.

As no one answered your question I'm going to that.

1. Usually no, as you need a really bad PBN to get it deindexed as a whole. I have not seen a case like that in 2-3 years now.
2. It depends on what kind PBN's you bought. If those cheapos here on BHW then you won't feel it mostly as they are not giving you power anyway. If more expensive, then you will see a drop usually, but that also may not be the case. If 10 PBN's get deindexed and they were powerful then, of course, there will be a drop. But they are easy to spot and if you react fast and correctly, then that drop is avoidable easily.

It is not. In fact, it rarely happens.

They will lose juice after de-indexation so they do suffer but probably not get a penalty. (unless search engines really want to send a message - this happened only a few times really with the biggest players)

Honestly, de-indexation seems very chaotic and almost random. Including both PBN units and time it happens at.

Very ouch! :D
