Sup BHW,

I have a quick question, I have a dispute on my paypal account on a transaction. Someone paid me for something that is directly against paypals TOS.
Paypal actually opened the dispute, they believe that the funds used to buy my product were not authorized by the paypal account holder. Anyway on my account it says action is required by me. Has anyone had to go through something similar?? Is there anyway to keep the money from the transaction? Also because I am selling a product against paypal TOS, is their a risk involved if paypal asks me for details on how I'm making money???

UPDATE!!!!

WTF??- This is why they say paypal sucks-I call paypal, and by the end of our conversation my account is limited. FML...

"We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information about your business to allow us to provide uninterrupted service. We would like to return your account to regular standing as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience."

i am trying to understand the question, if they bought something from you and you have sent it then put your side into the dispute area for paypal to review

sadly you normally always lose as paypal are idiots

Make sure you keep correspondence between buyer and seller and use that as proof of delivery, buy as per above post, PayPal does not protect the seller when it is a digital product unless you can prove physical delivery. Is that a contradiction in terms or what? PayPal are F***whits. Basically they protect the buyer, not the seller.

Were you selling things directly against paypals TOS? Don't fight it. They will close your account and probably hold your funds for up to 6 months. You wont be keeping this money.

Paypal are arseholes, they usually find for the buyer and screw sellers over.

A few years back I was selling mobile phone top-ups where you got a scratchcard type card.
I sold 1 on ebay to a buyer, who paid me via Paypal, then explained he was going on holiday in the morning and asked if I would email him the code.
I sent him the code to the paypal email address.

A week later a dispute appeared on my account, he said he never recieved his purchase. As I could not provide proof of a physical delivery, they refunded the scam artist and took the funds from my paypal account.

I think you'll end up refunding:(

thats why you send them a copy of the code in the mail

for virtual products, paypal usually will side the seller, especially if you mention in the dispute convo that it's a digital product, and there's no proof of delivery.

Good stuff, guys keep it coming

I'm bumping this thread there are new developments...

Paypal basically said -on the phone- my account would be limited within a few weeks if I did not provide proof of my identity I would be limited.

After the phone conversation I was like fuck that and I tried to transfer all of my money to my bank account. Paypal blocked that transaction and limited me TODAY.

Yeah I can prove my identity, but it looks like the process is going to take weeks... thats a lot of money I don't have access to...

Also it is basically putting a halt on my business...

What I need is a few stealth paypal accounts, can anyone help me????

Is it me, or the ones who are having issues with pay pal, are the ones mostly involved in ebay transactions and stuff? I read like a lot of stories, and most of them were about some ebay problems and such.

Oh I posted this in the ebay forum because I know a lot of people on it know about paypal, However I didn't use ebay...

Does paypal ever ask anyone how they make their money, specifically what product they sell???

It's ok, I wasn't saying anything about the fact you posted it in the ebay section.
As far as I read around, paypal asks people, besides their info, for more info of their activities, business stuff and such. I'm trying to keep my paypal as safe as I can, but even so, I don't know how. I just don't withdraw every day, only when I need it, or in case I get some over 1k payment, I withdraw like 800 or 850 bucks, and leave a few more, in case I'll need for some stuff.

I've opened many disputes on Paypal and most of the time it goes well. Thing about Paypal, is that they seem to not understand sometimes. I don't use it often anymore though.

sorry if you missed my explanation of how to make a stealth account. But it cant be left out in the open.

Um.... word of advice for the future.... Don't leave money in your Gaypal acct.... transfer it to your bank acct as soon as you get it.....

In the end, the seller ALWAYS gets screwed....

It's economics.

If they "hold" your funds for six months.... which they probably will in your case.... they collect interest on it while its in their bank account"s".....

By law they can't hold it longer than six months .... that's their limit .... so start over and get a REAL payment processor :)

Hope that helps.

Paypal will request to see copies of invoices where you purchase your goods/products. In the end, most likely they will not allow you to continue selling and your account will stay limited. Get a merchant account. Paypal at any time can keep your money and tell you to go fuck yourself. I had to learn this the hard way.

Best Reply So Far. Do the Refund and close the matter. It must not be hard to forget one sale out of your thousands of future sales.. Be Positive. ( The Blood of a Bull :D )

I despise paypal, and I won't say what my reaction was to them screwing my business. Them AND the old "stormpay".

Get this, for the better part of a year I ran 10's of thousands of dollars through paypal. Never showed them any ID. I would always remove my funds IMMEDIATELY.

Then I got comfortable (lazy) and left a large amount of money in my account. Suddenly they used the OLD "We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party" trick on me.

That was a complete and utter fabrication on their part.

After almost a year of them collecting fees from my transactions, which apparently was good to them, they became suspicious a "third party" was accessing my account, limited it and collected interest (which amounted to more than the fees they'd get from me in 6 months) off my money.

They caused some SUE-ABLE problems for my business.

...and, of course, they wanted to see my ID.

With another account they limited, they said that needed to see my license for being a "Private Lender" in a Financial Business.

I explained that it was a private company and that I did not need anything other than a Business License. Special financial credentials were not required to operate my business. They kept asking for it until I said "forget it if you guys think that I'm lying or are not intelligent enough to understand what I'm saying" - The account is still limited.

And reading the book "Paypal Wars" only told me what I already knew. A thieving company, founded by educated thieves.
