Same issue here.
Anyone got any explanation?

Thanks!

I am also facing same for some sites. One sitemap was read in December 2018. Since then I have re-submitted it multiple times but no updates.

Go to classic version of google webmaster and then fetch it will help.

Do you have robots.txt file and if so, what's inside it?

Goto Webmaster, submit Fetch as Googlebot for fetching

I had the same situation and my error was that I had registered the property on google webmaster with http and now I use redirect to https. Added the new url prefix and successfully submited my sitemap

I have robots.txt and everything looks ok. Also I have several subdomains on this domain and their sitemaps are ok, everything was great since March when this sitemap stop working. Maybe the problem is from google end?

Update Your Plugin , Make sure You are using Yoast premium plugin
Confirm That you are using right variation of your site.
Then add sitemap again and then check

Is not about plugins because is a CMS website.

To correct my preview message, I'm talking about a custom made website, not a CMS.
Can you post URL to the sitemap here?
Please see the print screens. What do you think?

Hard to know. Can you PM me url to sitemap and I can take a look?
The website has several languages, each language on its own subdomain. Everything worked fine until Jan 1st, when google decided not to crawl the sitemap on www, which is in English. I did not changed anything, sitemaps are auto-generated and besides the subdomain in url, all are exactly the same. So there is nothing to see on the sitemap url...
