When Did You First Go Online?

My connection is saying 6 days 3 hours and 21 minutes...

But to be honest somewhere around 1996-1997 my family got a computer with a 56k modem.

I started "trying" to play the games Idlejackers, Idlepimps, and Pimpwars but even though it was text based it took foreverrrrrr to load.

Then a new computer came around 2000-2001 with DSL and it was history... faster connection more time wasted after school.

Bump .... mIRC chat was my first encounter with internet back in school in 2000,I knew the potential of Internet but still wasted my three precious years searching to date Exotic girls on internet .Tried 2 enter 2 times in site building once in 2003 and then 2007 but discouraged by people close to me (maybe i could have tried bit more hard) .After finsihing studies got a high speed connection in my home in 2012 for casual surfing and then i really started uncovering the economics of internet.

1994 for the Internet
1985 for BBS' over my blazing fast 300 baud modem

Why would you think it wouldnt have any impact on business? Soon as you could go and look at it by being online yourself it was having a big impact.

I first went online with my dad in 1992 or 1993, I was like 6 years old at his work. In 1994, we got a hewlett-packard computer with prodigy.net internet service. I was pretty much left to my own devices, (Figured out how to go online and look up info on carmen sandiego I remember for some weird reason). I was just fascinated, I built my first website at 11, and then I guess the rest is history, Lol.

Very cool thread, btw!!

Just browsing this thread and this post reminded me of my first website. Quick search on archive.org and there it is a snapshot from feb 1999. Haha pretty cool (the fact it's still out there somewhere - not the site - thats awful).

It was on bigwig.net (a free host - anyone remember them?) so im quite amazed i even remembered the web address!

around 2002 and I am addicted with mIRC.. looking for girls to hook up and then friendster came.. :)

I almost did not graduate high school because Iam always hanging on the internet shops..

The late 90s, but I don't know what year.

High school junior in 98 during typing class. Lessons would finish early, we couldn't talk, my friend told me to check out this wild website called "Rhodium". The huge, infamous, no longer existent drug synthesis archive.
