I'm reading up on seo... to get a better understanding of the terms.

I understand the reason why you would want to redirect content and such...

but for making money... why would you need to do this?

Like can anyone give an example of when you would have duplicate content on a site you made?

Also do you need to manually do this? Is it the same process on a website you own and a blog you own?

    Thanks... yep im a noob

Also not sure if this is white hat or blackhat question.

    please and thanks

301 redirects are useful when you have 2 or more pages with similar content, when the www and non-www variants of your domain name are indexed in Google, when you are migrating to a new domain, etc.

301 redirects can also help your site rank higher faster. For example, some people 301 expired domains to their money sites to boost their rankings and some build links via 301 redirects. These can help you rank faster and in turn make more money. That's how it relates to making money.

Additionally, 301 redirects can dissolve a penalty, albeit temporarily.

The 301 HTTP status code has always been the standard for managing the complete and permanent redirection of a page. By implementing this command you will be eventually pass the majority of the original page's link authority, relevance and ranking power to the page you are redirecting to.
