Whats your thoughts on...

Need some input here...I am building a community based on a specific niche that only has one other community type site. The competitors site has a ton of member involvement dating back to 2008. Thousands of members and thousands of posts. Needless to say, this particular site has all the 'meat' behind a registration wall. This ultimately means search engines don't see the majority of the content that has been sitting on the site for years. So literally a ton of content that is clean of spinning, dupe, etc. and I guarantee is not indexed - I've checked.

Now, my question to everyone....this leaves the opportunity for me to essentially scrape hundreds and thousands of unique posts and put them on my community. Should I?

Secondly, if I go that route, what do you think some of the ramifications could/would/might be?

I would recommend that you scrape and then spin the content to be at least 50% or more unique than the original and then post it at your site..

This tactic sounds like one of the best ways to go with this content. If the OP does not have a decent article spinning software program, I highly recommend getting one. The program I've had the best results with is The Best Spinner. It does have a bit of a learning curve, but it works great once you add all your customization, keyword protection, and favorite synonyms to it. I recommend starting with spinning one to two sentences at a time until it becomes easier. Always, always check for correct grammar before posting! This is where spun articles get a bad rap.
